A Nokia for all the family

It’s difficult finding the perfect gift for all the family. With different personalities and different needs, where do you start? Let’s try to help you out…

Billy

Billy-image
At 12 years of age and full of energy, young Billy’s constantly on the move, climbing up trees, scuffing his knees and generally up to mischief.
He doesn’t have a wide social circle, just those in his class at school and close family members and so doesn’t need anything too extravagant.
The Nokia 108 is perfect for Billy, at around USD $29. Small in size and light, the 108 is durable enough to withstand Billy’s bounding about and fits firmly in his pocket.
With a VGA camera, Billy can take fun photos of his friends and with the potential for 31 days’ standby time, will ensure he’s always contactable whenever you need to keep tabs on him.

Gemma

Gemma-image
At 14 years old, Gemma is making lots of friends and hates to be excluded from any social interaction with her peers, in and outside of school.
Image is also becoming important and she likes a phone that’s not only functional, but also stylish.
The Nokia Asha 503 is vibrant and highly polished, thanks to a bold polycarbonate body beneath a transparent layer.
The Fastlane feature is onboard to keep Gemma up-to-date with any incoming notifications as well as showing previous and upcoming events. The addition of a 5-megapixel camera means she can capture the world around her with great detail. And with 3.5G connectivity, she can stay in touch with her peers, upload photos to social networks and download files at speed wherever she may go.

Lucy

Lucy-image
As a working woman, and a mother, Lucy has always got her hands full with one thing or another.
Lucy requires something that’s functional that can make aspects of her life easier, while staying connected with her friends and the rest of the family.
The Nokia Lumia 925 is sleek, with a polycarbonate body surrounded by an aluminium frame.
Lucy loves to take photos and film everything around her, so the PureView 8.7-megapixel with OIS (optical image stabilisation) camera is perfect for the job. Also, storing these automatically on SkyDrive means she’s always got them backed up.

Simon

Simon-image
Like Lucy, Simon splits his time between work and his family.
He needs access to his emails, apps for staying productive and likes to browse the Web and play games when there’s a quiet moment.
The Nokia Lumia 2520 is powered by Windows RT 8.1 and comes loaded with Microsoft Office 2013 RT; helping you create Word documents, Excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations on-the-go.
With access to the Windows Store, Simon can download games and enjoy them in full HD on the 10.1-inch screen, or use Internet Explorer 11 to surf the Web.

Granny Jones

Granny-image
At the ripe young age of 79, granny Jones doesn’t need or want to play Xbox games, or download thousands of apps.
The Nokia 105 is a handy little phone that lasts up to 35 days on standby with a single charge. This means you don’t need to worry about keeping it charged up every other day.
With a physical keypad there’s no mistyping of phone numbers and it also comes in bold cyan colour that’s especially easy to find in the bottom of a handbag or up on top of the fireplace at home.

Do you have any plans to buy anybody in your family a Nokia phone this year? Which one? Tell us, below.

How to skip more then 6 songs in mixradio in an hour

It's a big problem that you can only skip 6 songs on mixRadio. But I've a trick to simply skip as many song as you want any time!

HOW I GET KNOW ABOUT THIS TRICK?

Today (25/8/2015), I was sitting on my car listening mixRadio, my asha was in my pocket, I wanted to skip the song But unfortunately there was already I’ve skipped 6 songs in an hour. So, I tried some crazy things to skip it… and BINGO!!! One of the step worked!

HOW TO DO SO?

For attempting this trick all you need is a headphone with a call receiver button, for example (a headphone of Samsung/old nokia head headphones with button).
Now once if your mixRadio is unskipable then press the button thrice on your headphone with serial & Magically your song will be skipped!

NOTE :

The music which is going to be skipped must be played more then 5 seconds. So, only the music can be skipped by thrice button clicks

WE ARE ALSO GOING TO SHOW A TUTORIAL OF THIS TRICK IN OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL SOON!

HERE Transit (BETA)

HERE Transit has been helping Nokia Lumia owners find their way around town for quite some time. Now, Nokia Asha owners can experience the same door-to-door navigation.

Download
HERE Transit(BETA 559 KB)

HERE-Transit_Nokia-Asha-scheduleIf you’ve got a Nokia Asha 500, Asha501, Asha 502, or Asha 503, head on over to the Nokia Store to downloadHERE Transit for free.
HERE Transit makes it easy for you to plan a journey via public transport – giving you access to scheduled departure/arrival times from public transport companies – if available.
This schedule-based routing details precisely what time the next bus or train is due and does the same for any of your transfer points you may have along the way.
If timetable routing isn’t available in your region, HERE Transit will give an estimated time for your journey.
For most of us using public transport involves an amount of walking and HERE Transit takes this into account by also including walking times.
Not only that, but you’ll also be presented with the walking route on screen so you know precisely which direction to go. This is extremely useful if your destination is unfamiliar to you and you require door-to-door navigation.
HERE-Transit_Nokia-Asha-walkDeciding which route to take, as there can often be many, is easy thanks to the visual journey options screen. Here you can see clearly how long each journey option takes, if there are any transit changes and also how long you’ve got to until the start of your journey.
If your unfamiliar with the transport routes around you, take advantage of the Nearby transit feature.
This pinpoints your current location and displays a number of nearby stations and stops. Selecting one will show you the type of transport along with the departure times.
In the interest of saving you valuable travelling time, there’s the option to save your favourite destinations and journey details.
HERE Transit for Nokia Asha is only available in Sweden, Israel, Russia, Denmark, Norway, Netherlands, USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Spain, Finland, Hungary and New Zealand.
Download HERE Transit today and master the public transport.

Microsoft Ban and Microsoft Health introduces Web Tiles and Microsoft Health Cloud APIs

Microsoft Band and Microsoft Health introduces Web Tiles and Microsoft Health Cloud APIs

Next steps in our journey to empower developers.
FEATBand-Exploded
When we launched Microsoft Band and Microsoft Health in October last year, we made a commitment to the developer community to make our ecosystem open and accessible on every platform.
We promised access across the device and platform, from the sensor-packed Microsoft Band to the rich fitness data in our Microsoft Health service. As part of that promise, we launched a preview of the Microsoft Band SDK for Windows and Android in February this year, followed by an updated release across Windows, Android and iOS at our //build/ conference in April.
Microsoft Band SDK allows third party developers to enhance and extend the experience of their phone applications to Microsoft Band by accessing data from the Band’s sensors, as well as creating personalized, interactive Band tiles using custom layouts that contain text, icons, buttons, and barcodes.
In order to assist cross-platform development, we worked with our friends in Xamarin to provide Xamarin bindings for iOS and Android SDKs. This partnership allows developers to leverage Visual Studio and C# to write a single version of their app that works with Microsoft Band across all three platforms, simply. We can’t wait to see what developers bring to our growing Microsoft Band and Microsoft Health customer base.
The SDK was the first step towards enabling programmatic access to Microsoft Band and it remains the main extensibility point for harnessing the power of Microsoft Band sensors, as well as creating immersive and interactive scenarios with the Band.
Today, we take the next step that enables programmatic access to even more facets of Microsoft Band and Health platform – by introducing Microsoft Band Web Tiles Preview and Microsoft Health Cloud API Preview.
With this new preview, we are making it even easier for developers to create tiles for Microsoft Band, and are providing the first opportunity for developers to gain access to the rich fitness data that is stored in the Microsoft Health platform.
Introducing Microsoft Band Web Tiles Preview
The Microsoft Band Web Tiles Preview makes it simple to deliver “glanceable” information to Microsoft Band from virtually any data source accessible through the web. Web Tiles use the power of the Microsoft Health platform, leveraging internet connectivity, to bring content directly to the Microsoft Band.
With Microsoft Band Web Tiles, developers “author” the web tile only once to support multiple mobile platforms (iOS, Android and Windows). Authoring a Tile is simple: Developers can choose to read the Web Tiles documentation and author the Web Tile using their favorite text editors, or they can choose to author the tiles using the newly released Web Tiles Authoring Tool which provides a UI-based, step-by-step guide to creating a Web Tile package in as little as five minutes.
Microsoft Band Web Tiles are supported on all mobile platforms where Microsoft Health is available. To get started, developers should visit the Microsoft Band Web Tiles developer site, read the comprehensive documentation, downloadsample Web Tiles, and start creating new Web Tiles using the Web Tiles Authoring Tool.
Introducing Microsoft Health Cloud APIs Preview
Additionally, we are excited to bring you a preview of our Microsoft Health Cloud APIs Preview. These APIs are built on open standards and are a first step towards achieving our goal of making Microsoft Health extensible.
They allow developers to enhance the experiences of their apps and services with fitness data coming from Microsoft Health. These apps and services will be able to drive even more insightful and rich health and fitness features, like observations and insights, personalized recommendations and fitness coaching, by building upon a baseline of information provided by a consenting user.
As part of the preview, the first set of APIs that we are providing are read-only APIs for Activities and Summaries designed to provide developers read operations for Microsoft Health activity data, as well as interval based summaries for biometric data. When a user finishes a run, an application can query the Activities API and access details of the run as well as map points for the entire run that can then be used to create a map.
The full list of APIs is as follows:
API
Access
Description
Profile
Read-Only
Provides the user profile for the specified user.
Devices
Read-Only
Provides associated devices (Microsoft Band and Phones) for a user. Also provides details of a particular device based on ID.
Activities
Read-Only
Provides user activities for a specified date range or ID. You can get Activity summaries as a list for a given time frame or you can get Activity details for a given Activity. An Activity can be one of the following:Sleep, Run, Workout, Bike, Guided Workout, Golf
Summaries
Read-Only
Provides hourly or daily summaries for a date range. Currently supports:Steps, Calories, Distance, Heart Rate
The Microsoft Health Cloud APIs preview provides you with all the tools to start building your apps today. Start by registering your application and visit the developer page to download a sample application, read up on the Getting Starteddocumentation, and browse the API Reference.
New enhancements to Microsoft Band SDK
In addition to releasing the above new features for our developer community, we have made even more enhancements to the existing Microsoft Band SDK experiences based on feedback and issue reports.
Based on feedback from inquiring Developers, we are addressing the following areas with this update:
·         Refreshing of 3rd-party tile contents in-place
·         Better support for building icons as buttons
·         Ability to control the tile screen timeout
Visit the Microsoft Band SDK developer site to read more about these improvements and existing features.
Giving Feedback
We are sharing these features with the developer community in a preview state so we can collect feedback and input that will help us shape what we do. After our SDK release, we introduced Microsoft Band and Health UserVoice page where developers can suggest and vote on improvements to the SDK. We expect and encourage our developers to do the same for this release. We want to hear from you!
We are excited to see the growing support for Microsoft Band and Microsoft Health that we are receiving from the biggest names in fitness–Golds Gym, Strava, TaylorMade, and more. We can’t wait to see what experiences independent developers are going to be able to generate with the availability of these great tools.
What kind of apps would you like to see for Microsoft Band? Let us know in the comments below.

PicTag

COMING SOON...

Organise your Nokia Asha-taken snaps with this handy photo-tagging app

The Nokia Asha 500, Asha 501, Asha 502 and Asha 503 all offer the ability to store thousands of photographs on a MicroSD card; a dream for taking and sharing images, but a potential nightmare when you want to keep tabs on them all.
PicTag‘s premise is to let you add searchable text tags to all of your photographs, allowing you to group your images by album and find specific shots using the integrated search tool.

PicTag-Nokia-Asha-5

One of the things we love the most about PicTag is how easy it is to use from the get go – just launch the app and it’ll quickly locate and display all your photographs.
Two tabs at the bottom of the screen perform a brace of simple tasks – one takes you back to your photographs, the second takes you to the search page.

PicTag-Nokia-Asha-6

Tag multiple photographs

To add a tag to a photograph, just tap it and type what you want to label it as. To tag multiple photos simultaneously, effectively creating a photo album, swipe up from the bottom of the screen and press ‘Select images’. If you’ve already created tags, you’ll be presented with a list to choose from and associate your new crop with.

PicTag-Nokia-Asha

Got a lengthy tag list? No problem, just perform a text search to find your required tag. Once found, tap it and thumbnails for all photographs with that tag will appear.
